Red Deer Mounties arrest 15 in recent drug trafficking sweep
A drug trafficking sweep by Red Deer RCMP has led to the arrest of 15 people.
Between April 30 and May 15, Mounties charged those arrested with 69 offences, 38 of them being drug trafficking counts.
Police say the arrests resulted in the seizure of fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine from multiple suspects.
“Reductions in drugs and property crimes are a priority in the Red Deer RCMP annual policing plan, and we use an intelligence-driven model to target and disrupt the drug trade in the community,” says Sergeant Robert Schultz of the Red Deer RCMP. “The drug trade feeds property crime and violent crime and compounds existing social issues, and the impact of these 15 trafficking arrests will be felt. Our goal is to reduce crime by addressing the root causes.”
