Community concert to be held at Normandeau School for the food bank
At 7 pm, Wednesday, April 4, Union Duke will play a live concert at Normandeau School, with all food and cash donations going to the Red Deer Food Bank.
The suggested donation is $5/person, $10/family, or a bag of groceries, and Food Bank representatives will be on hand to receive the donations.
Union Duke will also be performing for the Normandeau School student body that afternoon at 1 pm. Hans Huizing, Normandeau’s School’s principal, is looking forward to both concerts as opportunities to build community and provide students and families a fantastic experience together. Special thanks to Parkland Audio for supplying the sound system and lights.
Union Duke is a Toronto folk-rock-bluegrass band that has played numerous times in Red Deer and features Red Deer’s own Andrew McLaren on vocals, electric guitar, and violin. Andrew graduated from Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School in 2009, where he participated in pretty much every band and choir possible, and where he often returns to be a guest teacher in the guitar class. Any Union Duke concert is a rollicking good time, featuring all five band-members’ rich vocal harmonies, and nine instruments between them. Union Duke has produced 3 albums, and many of their videos are available online on you-tube and their website, unionduke.com.
