Weapons charge still on for former Red Deer lawyer

Feb 28, 2018 | 3:18 PM

A weapons charge against a former Red Deer lawyer is not being withdrawn as originally planned.

Bradley James Mulder, 44, appeared in Red Deer Provincial Court via CCTV Wednesday morning. Mulder is currently in custody at the Red Deer Remand Centre.

Mulder faces one count of unauthorized possession of a restricted weapon – a switchblade knife – in relation to his arrest in February 2017 at a home in Sylvan Lake. Counts of possession of counterfeit currency and possession of stolen property stemming from the arrest were withdrawn last September.

An offer to withdraw the weapons charge was in the works pending Mulder completing an Alternative Measures program, which allows a first-time offender to avoid prosecution by completing community service, counselling or donation to a registered charity.
