A Red Deer mother and daughter duo have a new lease on life.

Madeleine and Irene Lowe always play scratch and win tickets when they get together, a tradition only made fonder after the pair found out they’d won $100,000.

“We like to play SET FOR LIFE,” said Irene. “Who wouldn’t want to be set for life?!”

Set for Life tickets offer a grand prize of $1,000 a week for 25 years.

“This time, we were just sitting at the kitchen table scratching our tickets,” said Madeleine. “I couldn’t believe it. We were instantly happy.”

The happy winners say they’ll use their winnings to pay bills and help out other family members. Madeleine added she also plans to buy a new BBQ.

The Lowes purchased their winning ticket at Sunnybrook Grocery on Springfield Avenue in Red Deer.
