Notley government at the halfway point

May 5, 2017 | 6:31 AM

EDMONTON – Premier Notley and her NDP government hit the halfway point of their term today.

Notley says her team has come a long way from the days when it grew overnight from a four-member opposition to a majority of more than 50 with a mandate to govern.

She once characterized it as trying to build a plane while it’s in flight.

But now she says she sometimes looks at the list of what they’ve accomplished, and she says the list is really long.

She also admits her government has made mistakes, but says her people have an authenticity and dedication that make her proud.

Wildrose Leader Brian Jean says the NDP has used their ideology to move the province in one particular direction without any kind of accountability or transparency.

Ric McIver, the Progressive Conservative leader in the legislature, says this government is so bad that it’s an easy target in the legislature.
