A former member of the Red Deer Optimist Chiefs was among those injured Friday’s devastating crash involving the Humboldt Broncos.

Graysen Cameron, who is from Olds, joined the Broncos for the 2017-18 season after playing parts of two seasons with the Optimist Chiefs.

RCMP confirm 14 people were killed and another 15 were injured when the Broncos bus was struck by a semi on a highway near Tisdale, SK. The team was heading to Nipawin, SK for a playoff game when the crash happened.

Friday night, the Optimist Chiefs shared a tweet saying Cameron, 18-years-old, survived the deadly collision…

R.J. Patter, father of Broncos forward Derek Patter, later tweeted this photo of his son, Cameron (centre) and Nick Shumlanski recovering in hospital…

A GoFundMe page set up in support of the Broncos continues to grow. As of 9:30 Saturday morning, the page had raised more than $275,000.
