AGLC taking marijuana store applications

Mar 7, 2018 | 5:26 AM

EDMONTON- The Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission says people interested in selling cannabis once it’s legalized can apply for a store licence starting today.

Spokeswoman Michelle Hynes-Dawson says there’s no deadline for the applications and no cap on the number of licences that will be handed out.

However, there will be background checks and fees, and municipal approval will be needed — similar to getting a liquor store licence.

It’s expected that it will take two to four months for a store to get a licence.
