The Central Alberta U16AA Sting Ringette team captured the BlackGold League title this weekend.

The Sting faced off against the Sherwood Park Power on Saturday finishing in a 5-5 tie. Scoring was distributed with singles from Carly Cherniak, Hanna Gill, Megan Grubb, Alexa Knight and Sydney Schnoor.  Madison Kohut was solid in net.

Sunday, the Sting dominated over the St. Albert Mission with an 8-3 victory. Hanna Gill and Shaelynn Law both tallied for three goals each and Carly Cherniak and Sydney Schnoor added singles.  Gracie Setters notched the win in goal.

These final games secured the BlackGold League title as undefeated Champions throughout the entire season. Every other U16AA team lost at least 4 games during the season. Sting had the highest goal total, the least goals against and the least penalty minutes amongst all the U16AA teams in the league.

The next challenge for the team is to earn the Provincial title at the Provincial AA Ringette Championships, which will be held February 22nd - 24th in Edmonton.

Vipers win two more to extend winning streak to 10 games
