Jun 5, 2017 | 11:21 AM

The trial for a man charged in the death of a young mother in Red Deer earlier this year will take place next fall.

Lyndon Olsen, 34, is charged with manslaughter with a firearm in the death of Randee Stewart, 25.

Olsen pleaded not guilty in April and elected to be tried by judge and jury. The trial has been scheduled for September 17 – 25, 2018 with jury selection to take place on the opening day.

Shortly after 6 a.m. on February 1 of this year, RCMP were called to a report of possible shots fired near 54 Avenue and 43 Street in West Park. Moments later, another call came in about a truck that crashed into a power pole on 42 Street near Red Deer Regional Hospital.

A woman was found injured in the truck that crashed near the hospital. She later died and an autopsy confirmed her death to be a homicide.
