Road construction season in full force in Clearwater County

Jun 5, 2017 | 10:36 AM

With the warmer weather rolling in, that means road construction season is in full swing.

Already there have been a number of roads already checked off the list, are undergoing construction as we speak, or will be commencing shortly.

Director of Public Works for Clearwater County, Marshall Morton says currently, the biggest projects they have for this summer is the paving of Prairie Creek Road and gravelling of Northfrok Road.

“For the Prairie Creek Road from Highway 22 west to Highway 752, crews are working on extending culverts doing some side sloping improvements and getting ready to put the asphalt layer on that road way” says Morton. “We also undertake between sixteen and twenty miles of gravel road reconstruction, this year the biggest one is Northfork Road. So crews are working on that currently.”

Other roads that are currently under construction to keep in mind is Township road 40-1A, Range Road 4-1 South of Hwy 11 as well as the Caroline Industrial Area.

Road Construction on Township 39-2 is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, June 7th to Friday, June 9th, with a single lane closure in place.

Morton added that following the rules of the road that apply to construction zones must also be kept in mind.

“We utilize a number of students for those types of projects, so definitely keeping your eye out for the younger workers is a good idea.”
