Thousands more collected for Access for All Barrier-Free Playscape in Red Deer
An organization spearheading the construction of Red Deer’s first ever barrier-free playground is making significant strides towards finishing the second phase of the project.
Officials with Access For All Barrier-Free Playscape have announced $23,000 was raised during their Paint Party fundraising event held last Saturday, March 3 in Red Deer.
It follows the first annual Valentine’s Maquerade Ball held at the Black Knight Inn last month and hosted by the Make A Move with Jagger Foundation which is supporting the same cause. That event helped raise $10,000 to go towards Phase 2.
The project is at Mattie McCullough Elementary School in Red Deer and saw Phase 1 open last summer in 2017. That entailed the new playground having ramps, a rocking device, ladders, a rotating flower, slides, swings, a balance beam and places to roll, run and climb.
