EDMONTON- The province has recognized nine individuals and organizations for the difference they make in the lives of Alberta seniors.

Among them was Red Deer-based The Lending Cupboard, which lends out medical equipment, moved this summer from their home downtown up to their new north end location near Gaetz Avenue and 78 Street.

Last year, The Lending Cupboard helped 10,000 people from as far away as Calgary and Edmonton.

For more than 20 years, the Minister’s Seniors Service Awards have recognized volunteers and groups that improve the lives of Alberta’s older generation.

“Our dedicated Board of Directors, five part-time staff and over 70 volunteers gave over 11,000 hours last year. They are the true heroes of our organization. This award recognized and validated the incredible contribution we are making to so many clients and their families.,” said Donna Morey with The Lending Cupboard.

Lori Sigurdson, Minister of Seniors and Housing states, “Alberta is a province of dedicated and talented volunteers who work day after day to improve seniors’ lives. Congratulations to the award recipients. Thank you for everything you do to serve seniors in your community.”
