Red Deer Food Bank and Hope Mission to receive significant donations

Dec 18, 2018 | 4:20 PM

Those less fortunate in Red Deer stand to benefit from the spirit of giving shown by the Building Trades of Alberta Charitable Foundation this week.

On Tuesday, the organization announced a $10,000 donation planned for the Red Deer Food Bank and another $10,000 for Red Deer Hope Mission.

Officials say the donations are part of $110,000 being donated to 11 food banks across the province to help the organizations relieve hunger and provide necessities to Albertans in need this holiday season.

“While our province is recovering from one of the worst economic recessions seen in a generation, there are still many individual Albertans and families struggling to make ends meet,” says Building Trades of Alberta Executive Director, Terry Parker, in a press release. “Food banks help close that gap.”

“The Building Trades of Alberta Charitable Foundation is proud to support the important work Alberta food banks do,” ADDS Parker. “From providing food to personal products, food banks ensure folks receive what they need to make their lives better. We’re pleased to be able to help them do that.”

Parker concludes, “I encourage those who can, to support their local food bank in any capacity they are able to now, and throughout the year.”

The Building Trades of Alberta Charitable Foundation began in 1991 and is said to have raised over $7.6 million for more than 70 non-profit organizations across Alberta.

The Building Trades of Alberta advocates for 16 Alberta trade unions whose 75,000 members work in the residential, commercial and industrial construction, maintenance and fabrication industries.
