Sylvan Lake draft budget released

Property tax bills in Sylvan Lake are projected to increase by $60 for 2019.

The Town of Sylvan Lake has released the draft 2019 budget and three-year budget plan for public review and feedback.

The budget includes 2.74 per cent tax rate increase for both residential and non-residential property owners. Officials note this is less than the 3.86 per cent forecasted in 2017.

No utility rate increases are proposed.

The Town of Sylvan Lake says the 2019 budget focuses on sustainability, infrastructure, and enhanced municipal service delivery. Initiatives include expanded online services, improved pedestrian safety, ongoing park and trail enhancements, and major road upgrades. Economic Development initiatives such as a tourism impact assessment, and ongoing investment attraction initiatives are also planned.

The draft Operating Budget for 2019 includes $36,500,766 in spending, while the draft Capital Budget comes with a  $13,261,000 price tag.

The Town is inviting residents to a Budget Open House on December 11 from 4:30 – 7:00 PM at Good Earth Coffee House (5003 Lakeshore Drive).
