Thurber wins high school football season opener

A win in their opening game of the season has lifted the Lindsay Thurber Raiders into the Football Alberta Top 10 rankings for high school football.

The Raiders downed the Centennial Coyotes from Calgary 13-10 in exhibition play Friday nights at Great Chief Park.

Quarterback Josh Campbell hooked up with receiver Cody Anglo for the winning touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Thurber is now ranked tenth amongst Tier I teams in the province.

In other local high school football action over the weekend, the Hunting Hills Lightning fell 28-14 to Lloydminster and the Lacombe Rams were edged 27-26 by the Holy Rosary Raiders (Lloydminster). Sylvan Lake beat Drayton Valley 21-13 while Stettler downed Rocky Mtn. House 42-7.
