Rocky RCMP Weekly Report: May 17 – 22

On May 17th at 7:05 p.m. an impaired driver was arrested at a police check stop on Highway 11. A local man provided breath samples well over twice the legal limit. Charges are pending.

On May 17th at 11:24 p.m. an adult male was arrested for a “Breach of a Release Document” after driving his uninsured and unregistered vehicle into a river bed. Open liquor was found in the vehicle, provincial violation tickets were issued.

On May 17th at 11:18 p.m. an adult male was arrested for impaired driving of an off-highway vehicle in the South Fork area of Clearwater County. Charges are pending.

On May 18th at 7:49 a.m. there was a gas & dash at a Rocky Mountain House station worth $71.53. The gas attendant was knocked down when the vehicle fled the area in a green Jeep Wrangler. EMS attended and transported the attendant to the hospital. The suspect is described as a male wearing a grey sweatshirt with black writing and newer Nike basketball shoes with red soles. Police are investigating.

On May 18th at 5:50 p.m. police received a complaint of a customer at a fast food establishment threatening to throw staff over the counter and throw soup at them. The male suspect fled in a brown cargo van and may have been under the influence of some substance.

On May 18th at 8:37 p.m. police received a report of campers in the SouthFork area of Clearwater County setting off explosives and breaking trees. Police attended and located the individual who were using tenerite. A violation ticket was issued.

On May 18th at 10:15 p.m. police received a complaint from a Rocky Mountain House fast food establishment, saying a customer had come in screaming and yelling when he found out they weren’t serving hot food anymore. He was possibly on drugs, and left prior to police arrival.

On May 19th at 2:06 a.m. police received a 911 call of mischief at a Rocky car dealership after someone tried pushing a brand new pickup truck over the embankment with another vehicle.

On May 19th at 4:05 p.m. police received a report of an off-highway vehicle collision in the Saunders area of Clearwater County. An adult female was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

On May 19th at 5:17 p.m. police received a complaint of an assault causing bodily harm at a campsite in the Southfork area of Clearwater County. Police attended and arrested an adult male and seized his guns. Charges are pending.

On May 29th at 6:30 p.m. police received a complaint of intoxicated and belligerent campers at Southfork in Clearwater County. Approximately 100 campers were reported in area, police attended a number of times throughout the long weekend.

On May 19th at 9:31 p.m. a vehicle was stopped on Highway 54 because the license plate didn’t match the vehicle. A stolen licence plate was located inside the vehicle along with cocaine. Charges are pending against two adult males.

On May 19th at 11:36 p.m. police received a complaint of two females yelling at a Rocky Mountain House mobile home park. The police attended and arrested one individual who was under the influence of alcohol and meth.

On May 20th at 12:46 a.m. police received a 911 call of a vehicle smashing into the front of a Rocky Mountain House liquor store twice. They did not get in, and fled in the vehicle which was recovered on the Sunchild Road, north of Rocky, after a tip from the public. An adult male was arrested on scene and charges are pending.

On May 20th at 8:23 a.m. police received a complaint of a stolen vehicle taken from local tow yard and rammed through the front gates. The vehicle was located later abandoned on Sunchild Road.

On May 20th at 11:04 a.m. police received a report of campsites and vehicles rifled through at a campsite west of Caroline. Cash and a knife were stolen.

On May 20th at 1:45 p.m. conservation and police officers attempted to stop two off-highway vehicle users without helmets in an off-limits area in the Bighorn Dam area. Both of the riders attempted to flee law enforcement but were eventually located. Numerous charges were laid on both of them.

On May 20th at 6:00 p.m. police received a 911 call of threats, explosives, and firearms in the South Fork area of Clearwater County. Police attended and arrested an adult male for uttering threats and a violation ticket for shooting exploding targets.

On May 21st at 4:04 p.m. RCMP conducted a traffic stop in a Rocky Mountain House grocery store parking lot. An adult male driver provided a breath sample and blew well over the legal limit. Charges are pending.

On May 21st at 3:58 p.m. police received a call of an ATV fire west of RMH in Clearwater County in which a 9-year-old child was burnt. The family was out west camping and were attempting to fill up the ATV with gas when it caught fire. The child was transported to the hospital and then airlifted via STARS to an Edmonton hospital where he is in stable condition.

On May 21st at 10:40 p.m. police received a complaint of an attempted theft at a construction yard in Alhambra. A suspicious vehicle was seen in the compound with its lights off and when the complainant went to get a licence plate number, the driver rammed his vehicle and took off east of Highway 11. The incident is currently under investigation.

On May 22nd at 11:08 p.m. police observed two suspicious young adult males hanging around downtown Rocky Mountain House carrying a bat. When they saw the police, they ran. One subject, who was discovered to be on probation, was later located carrying a hatchet and knives. He was arrested and charges are pending.
