Five people are facing a total of 52 charges following a months-long investigation by Red Deer RCMP.

The investigation wrapped on May 7 with the high-risk arrest of a wanted man at a home in West Park.

Local Mounties say they opened their file in January, and on April 16 executed a trio of search warrants at residences on Neville Close, Page Avenue and on the 3800 block of 45 Street in Eastview.

During those searches, which were done alongside the Calgary Emergency Response Team, RCMP seized 17 firearms and large amounts of cocaine and meth, along with fentanyl, GHB, items used for drug trafficking, electronics, a single counterfeit Canadian $100 bill, and approximately $600 cash.

Schools in the area were put on hold and secure as a safety precaution.

Other ERT members located the target of the investigation at a Penhold gas station, but the suspect struck a police vehicle and fled. Police opted not to pursue for public safety reasons.

Then on May 7, Red Deer RCMP located the suspect at the home in West Park. Calgary ERT once again assisted and nearby schools were put in hold and secure.

James Leslie Holley, 43, faces 21 charges related to possession for the purpose of trafficking, careless use of a firearm, possession of stolen property, unauthorized possession of a firearm, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle while being pursued by police. He is scheduled to appear in Red Deer court on May 31.

Danielle Ami Cassan, 39, faces 20 counts, 16 of which are for careless use of a firearm and possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition. She is scheduled to appear in court June 14.

Jennifer Lynn Steele, 36, faces five firearms-related counts. Steele is slated for court on June 19.

Angel Robin Chipaway, 33, faces four firearms-related counts and will appear on June 19.

Kandice May Baldwin, 30, faces two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. She is scheduled to appear in court on August 9.
