Bantam AAA Braves open season in Sherwood Park
The Red Deer Bantam AAA Braves completed their opening weekend with two preseason and two league games in Sherwood Park, May 5-6.
The first preseason game against the Sherwood Park A’s on May 5 saw the Braves win 6-5 with pitcher Brayden Harrington earning the win and adding a home run and 3 RBIs.
The Braves won their second preseason game 5-4 over the Parkland Twins. Adam Turgeon was the winning pitcher with Heath Hatchowski closing. Owen Harriott and Levi Hammond both hit double’s with 1 RBI and Kyle Belich had a pair of RBIs.
League play began with a double header on Sunday with the Braves downing Sherwood Park 7-3 in the opener. Owen Harriott was the winning pitcher with Josh Hilts as the closing pitcher. A highlight of the game was a Sherwood Park runner thrown out trying to stretch a double into a triple for the second out of the seventh inning. Ben Franz threw from right field to Brayden Harrington who relayed to third to get the runner.
