Apr 12, 2018 | 11:23 AM

A Lacombe man is one of the grand prize winners in the 2018 STARS Lottery.

Brent Sage has won a show home in Calgary worth $948,000.

“We are so appreciative of what STARS does, especially most recently in Humboldt,” said Sage. “We have always supported STARS, as our daughter was airlifted from Red Deer to Edmonton about 28 years ago.”

Wendy Beauchesne, Executive Vice President, STARS Foundation was on hand for the calls to the lucky winners Thursday morning.

“The support of our allies is what makes STARS soar. Thank you, Alberta for joining our fight to save lives,” said Beauchesne. “By supporting the STARS lottery for 25 years, you have continued to fuel our passion and innovation as we deliver vital care to critically ill and injured Albertans across the province.”

The lottery finished strong at 95 per cent sold. It raised approximately $10 million net for the non-profit, with 3,034 prizes worth more than $4.7 million retail.

This year’s top four grand prize winners are:

• Frank and Bev Kehoe of St. Albert
Edmonton show home worth $975,000 retail

• Brent Sage of Lacombe
Calgary show home worth $948,000 retail

• Boris Ovtchinnikov of Calgary
Lethbridge show home worth $892,500 retail

• George Wheaton of Calgary
$500,000 Dream Fund

The STARS lottery continues to be the non-profit’s single largest source of funding in Alberta, helping critically ill and injured patients across the province. This was the 25th edition of the STARS lottery.
