Drayton Valley ski hill opens this weekend for first season since 2015

After two consecutive years of mild winters, the Drayton Valley Brazeau Snow Club is gearing up to open the ski hill this Saturday for the first time since 2015.

The club had struggled to open in the past due to limited snowfalls and abnormally warm temperatures during the winter months, but DVBSC President Randy Beckett says they are eager to get people on their skis and snowboards. 

“We are extremely optimistic right now, with last Friday’s dump of snow we got a good snow base, we packed the hill and we got another little bit of snow this week. Come Saturday morning it’ll be wonderful,” said Beckett.

He also stressed the importance of having a local ski hill, bringing with it options for people to get outdoors and enjoy different types of things.

Volunteers are appreciated, with Beckett adding anyone with experience in the rental department of helping adjust/put skis on people would be extremely beneficial to the club.

The hill will be open on Saturdays & Sundays from 10 a.m.to 4:30 p.m. and Tuesdays & Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
