Blue-green algae advisories lifted in Central Alberta

RED DEER- Recent weather has cooled lake and reservoir water temperatures to such an extent that blue-green algae is no longer a health concern, including in eight bodies of water in the Central Zone.

Effective immediately, Alberta Health Services has lifted the blue-green algae bloom advisories for:

Alix Lake
Battle Lake
Buck Lake
Fyten Reservoir/ Swalwell Dam
Pigeon Lake
Pine Lake
Wapasu Lake
Wizard Lake

Visitors and residents are reminded to never drink or cook with untreated water directly from any lake or reservoir, at any time.
