The École Secondaire Notre Dame High School Girls Golf Team have returned home from provincials with some hardware.

The team of four, including Sophie Chandler, Chloe Ellis, Ryann Kirkness, and Sydney Korbyl, earned silver at the Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association Golf Provincial Championships this week in the Edmonton area on September 28 and 29.

They competed at the Edmonton Springs Golf & Country Club and Cougar Creek Golf Resort, where they overcame difficult conditions and high-level competition.

Their silver medal performance came after an impressive performance at the SSA Zone Championship, where they won the school’s first girls golf zone title in three years.

At provincials, the girls finished opening day in fourth place, but rebounded in the second round and climbed the standings to finish second overall.

“The result was an impressive conclusion to the season for a group with varying levels of competitive golf experience,” Notre Dame wrote in a media release. “Their ability to respond after a difficult opening round demonstrated the group’s resilience. Congratulations to Sophie, Chloe, Ryann, and Sydney on an exceptional season.”

Notre Dame also congratulates the coaches, staff, and school community members whose support helped make the season and provincial championship experience possible.
