PQ leaders promises to break with monarchy if elected
Parti Québécois Leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon was criticized for picking battles with Ottawa over immigration and the monarchy as the electoral campaign nears its end.
Liberal Leader Charles Milliard called the PQ leader “belligerent” and “quarrelsome” on the campaign trail Wednesday.
“It’s the exact opposite of what Quebec needs,” he said, adding that the PQ leader should “focus on Quebec’s economy and the health of Quebecers, rather than worrying about the lieutenant-governor’s salary.”
On Tuesday, St-Pierre Plamondon said a PQ government would not allocate any money for the lieutenant-governor and redistribute those sums to tackle homelessness.
