Restoration: Volunteers plant 250 trees & shrubs at Kerry Wood Nature Centre
Volunteers planted 250 trees and shrubs at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre over the weekend.
The TD Tree Days event, put on by TD Bank, is part of the second phase of a multi-year habitat restoration project.
The most recently planted foliage will strengthen wildlife habitat along the east side of 45 Avenue, from the Parkland building to the Nature Centre’s entrance. It will provide food, shelter, and safer movement for local species, organizers say.
“What makes TD Tree Days so special is the sense of connection it creates. It was wonderful to see members of the Red Deer community come together, roll up their sleeves and contribute to a project that will benefit local wildlife and green spaces for years to come,” said Mandip Kharod, regional manager, TD Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF).
