Sylvan Lake Gulls advance to WCBL championship series

For the second straight year, the Sylvan Lake Gulls are headed back to the Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) championship series.

On Wednesday evening, they defeated the Okotoks Dawgs 9-8 at Gulls Stadium to sweep the West Division final series. The Gulls entered the contest in a position to eliminate the Dawgs following a 7-2 Game 1 win in Okotoks on Tuesday.

As a result, the Gulls will face the Saskatoon Berries in the championship series, where Sylvan Lake will look to win the first championship in franchise history.

Game 1 is set for Saturday, Aug. 15 at 7:05 p.m. at Gulls Stadium, followed by Game 2 in Saskatoon on Sunday, Aug. 16 at 7:05 p.m.
