“It is nice to get a win. I thought we got better as the game went on, but our start was a little bit dicey and that is something that we can clean up,” said Canada head coach Ryan Oulahen. “We can be a little bit sharper to start games, but we got to a lot of the habits we have been preaching to this group as the game progressed. The competition is tough [at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup], and it is going to get even tougher later in the tournament. Overall, we had an okay start but there is some room for improvement.”

Canada now sits on top of the Group A standings with a 1-0-0-0 record.

They’ll return to the ice on Tuesday, Aug. 4 at Rogers Place in Edmonton to face Slovakia and 5 p.m. Mountain Time.
