Four Red Deer Rebels prospects have been invited to Canada’s national U17 development camp.

Goaltender Chase Nielson, defenceman Owen Archer, defenceman Nolan Wolitski, and forward Chace Turchak were four of 80 players invited to the camp set for July 17-21 in Oakville, Ont.

All of the 80 players invited have been drafted in the Canadian Hockey League including 29 from the Western Hockey League.

The players will be split into four teams for the five-day camp, which includes two days of practice and six games.

Following camp, players will continue to be evaluated through the beginning of the 2026-27 season before the Canada Red and Canada White rosters are named ahead of the 2026 U17 World Challenge, scheduled for Nov. 1-7 in Oakville.

Nielson, who’s from Fort McLeod, Alta., was drafted by the Rebels in the third round, 56th overall, in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft. Last season, he played 18 games with the U17 Southern Alberta Hockey Academy, where he recorded a 3.15 goals against average and a .913 save percentage for a 12-5-1 record. He also appeared in two games with the U18 SAHA squad.

Archer, who was selected by the Rebels 32nd overall in the second round of the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft, suited up in just seven games with the St. Albert Raiders during the 2025-26 season. He missed the majority of the season with an injury, but scored two goals and two assists before his season came to an end.

Wolitski, who’s from Raleigh, North Carolina, was selected by Red Deer in the first round, seventh overall in the 2025 draft. Last season, he scored two goals and 13 assists for 15 points in 27 games with the Northern Alberta Xtreme U18 Prep Team.

Turchak, who’s from Calgary, was selected by the Rebels in the second round, 30th overall, in the 2025 draft. With the Calgary Buffaloes of the U18 AAA Alberta Elite Hockey League, he scored 13 goals and 32 assists for 45 points in 36 games. He also played for the Rebels in four games.
