Red Deer’s Nathan Flewelling named MVP of MLB All-Star Futures Game
Red Deer’s Nathan Flewelling was named MVP of the MLB All-Star Futures Game over the weekend.
The 19-year-old Tampa Bay Rays prospect delivered a two-run homer to help the American League to a 6-1 win.
According to Baseball Canada, Flewelling is just the second Canadian to earn this honour, after Rene Tosoni did it in 2009.
Flewelling is currently rated the second-best prospect in the Rays’ organization and is catching for High-A Bowling Green Hot Rods of the South Atlantic League.
