There will be a VIP shopping night on Thursday, July 23, from 5 to 8 p.m. to give people an opportunity to buy items before it opens to the public. Tickets for the VIP event are $25 online or $35 at the door.

The garage sale at St. Joseph will then open to the public on July 24 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., before reopening on Saturday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and again on Sunday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

After the garage sale, the Humane Society will hold a community non-profit pick-up day on Monday, July 7, where registered non-profits from central Alberta will be able to take any items for free.

Organizers ask that those hoping to donate bring gently used items that are clean, complete, and in good condition.

“Invite your friends, neighbours, family, and coworkers,” they added. “The more donations and shoppers we welcome, the more animals we can help.”

More specifically, they are looking for items such as furniture, home décor, kitchenware, small household appliances, sporting goods, books, puzzles, games, toys, seasonal decorations, tools, pet supplies, collectibles, and camping and outdoor equipment.

They will turn away items such as large office furniture, mattresses, large household appliances, hazardous materials, broken items, and heavily soiled donations.

“Our supporters give so generously each year, and we want every donation to have the greatest possible impact,” said Jennifer Erickson, Fund Development Coordinator at Central Alberta Humane Society. “If an item doesn’t find a new home during the sale, we’re delighted to see it continue helping another organization serve our community.”

This year, the Central Alberta Humane Society is celebrating 50 years of service improving the lives of companion animals throughout the region.
