It’s two years in jail for a man convicted in a shooting incident on the Louis Bull First Nation two years ago.

Kashton Fearious Bull, 26, was sentenced in Wetaskiwin Court of Justice on June 16, 2026, after pleading guilty to one count of possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm. He was also given a lifetime firearm prohibition.

Seven other counts against him were withdrawn on Sept. 19, 2025.

It was on Aug. 7, 2024, when Maskwacis RCMP received a report of a shooting and arrived to find a 15-year-old with gunshot wounds.

Mounties said the victim was transported to a hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. A second victim, who was allegedly hit by a car and had minor injuries, was treated and released.

On Aug. 8, 2024, Kashton Fearious Bull was arrested in relation to the incident after Maskwacis and Strathcona RCMP, as well as the Alberta RCMP Emergency Response Team, executed a search warrant at a hotel room in Sherwood Park.

Bull, residing in Edmonton and the Louis Bull First Nation at the time, was originally charged with:

  • Attempted murder
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to order
  • Weapons offences (x4)

Police also allegedly found a loaded, semi-automatic rifle in the hotel room.
