watch for 'no parking' areas

Micro-surfacing begins this week in Ponoka

Jun 17, 2026 | 10:53 AM

Weather permitting, micro-surfacing and other upgrades will begin this week on several stretches of roads in Ponoka.

Areas to receive work include:

• 54 Avenue (between 56 and 58 Street);

• 55 Avenue (between 61 and 63 Street); and

• 51 Street in the Coop Subdivision (from Highway 2A to the alley north of 65 Avenue).

Per the Town: No Parking’ signs will be placed along roadways before micro-surfacing is scheduled to begin. Move parked vehicles from roadways on which ‘no parking’ signs are posted.

Not removing your vehicle from these areas can result in fines and towing (at the owner’s expense).

Other improvements scheduled to happen in Ponoka this season as part of the Town’s annual Roadway Improvement Program include:

• Rodeo Drive (Highway 53) Corridor Improvements: The Town of Ponoka has partnered with Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors to complete the improvements along Rodeo Drive, which began last year. This includes completion of:

o Milling and paving at the 46 Street intersection;

o Installation of traffic light stands at the 46 Street intersection. The lights will not be immediately operational;

o Electrical work throughout the corridor;

o Installation of wayfinding signage; and

o Landscaping.

• Ongoing pothole repairs and maintenance on roadways throughout the community; and

• Paving and concrete replacement and repair at multiple locations throughout the community.
