Red Deer city council reallocates funds to repair Mountview water reservoir
Red Deer city council has approved a capital budget amendment to complete a repair at the Mountview reservoir, which is also known as the ‘green onion.’
At Tuesday’s regular city council meeting, council unanimously approved the proposed resolution to transfer $305,000 from the Water Treatment Plan Annual Program to the Water Pumping Stations Program to complete an urgent repair at the reservoir.
As a result, the funding was reallocated so there won’t be any additional funding asks, and there will be no impact on utility rates.
According to a report by city administration, the request comes after major repair work was done in the reservoir in 2023, and multiple deficiencies were noted, which were completed in October last year.
