As a result, two suspects, a 34-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man, both from Caroline, were arrested at the residence.

The woman was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and fraudulent concealment.

Meanwhile, the man was charged with 22 charges, including:

• Seven counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000;
• Fraudulent concealment;
• Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition;
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm;
• Possession of a device for purpose of committing theft;
• Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle; and
• Five counts of failure to comply with a release order.

They were both held for Judicial Interim Release (JIR) hearings. The woman was released with conditions to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on May 22 but she subsequently failed to appear, and a warrant has been issued for her arrest.

The man was remanded into custody to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on April 24, 2026.

Further arrests

Further investigation by the RCMP led police to execute a search warrant at a residence in Caroline. Consequently, police seized a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, and various items which are known to be used for conducting vehicle thefts.

On April 23, Red Deer RCMP CRT observed a vehicle, which was suspected to be stolen out of Red Deer, driving in the Pines area and police arrested both the driver and the passenger of the vehicle.

A 38-year-old man, a resident of Rocky Mountain House, was issued a violation ticket under the Traffic Safety Act for driving while unauthorized. 

In addition, a 39-year-old man from Red Deer, was arrested and charged with nine offences including impaired operation of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle while prohibited, failure to comply with conditions, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

He was held for a JIR and remanded into custody to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on April 27.

Soon after that, the RCMP’s investigation led them to two properties in Sundre where they located and recovered multiple vehicles reported stolen out of several communities.

As a result, police found evidence of vehicle identification numbers being tampered.

A 26-year-old resident of Rocky Mountain House was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of property over $5,000, fraudulent concealment, possession of unmarked cigarettes, and driving an uninsured motor vehicle.

They were held for a JIR hearing and was released on conditions to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Didsbury on May 25.

Furthermore, a 40-year-old man, a resident of Mountain View County, was charged with three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of fraudulent concealment, trafficking in property obtained by crime, possession of ammunition contrary to an order, and three counts of tampering with a vehicle identification number.

The man was released on an undertaking to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Sundre on June 9.
