‘One Swing for Three Causes’ golf tournament goes June 22

Spots are open for an upcoming golf tournament supporting a trio of Red Deer-based causes.

The ‘One Swing for Three Causes’ Tournament goes down June 22 at River Bend Golf Course, and is being hosted by the Central Alberta Breakfast Club.

It will benefit Red Deer Food Bank, Youth HQ, and Bridges Community Living.

Geoff Olson, CEO of Bridges, which recently merged with Red Deer Housing Authority, explains why the tournament aims to spread the wealth.

“One of the things we want to get out to the public is that there are a variety of causes out there, and one of the challenges with putting together some of these events is that they take a lot of work,” said Olson.

“So with three agencies coming together, plus the Red Deer Breakfast Club, it gives us an opportunity to pool resources.”

Olson, who shared that the waitlist for housing is close to 1,000 people across the entire spectrum of what they offer, noted the tournament’s goal is to raise about $10,000 for each non-profit.

There are still plenty of openings for the tournament — both to play in it and become a sponsor.
