Alberta’s proposed public library restrictions for children, drawing criticism
Critics of Alberta’s proposed public library restrictions for children are pushing back at the province.
Municipal Affairs Minister Dan Williams says his bill would protect children 15 and under from stumbling upon graphic visual depictions of sex in public libraries.
Williams says librarians will soon need to keep some materials behind the counter.
But James Turk, with the Centre for Free Expression at Toronto Metropolitan University, says Alberta’s reason is a red herring.
