City of Red Deer to begin street sweeping on Sunday

Apr 10, 2026 | 4:19 PM

The City of Red Deer says its yearly street cleaning program will begin on Sunday, April 12.

That day, crews will start sweeping along medians to remove winter debris and clean up the roads.

The arterial roadways, the city added, will be swept overnight from 6 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. to avoid traffic delays on the community’s major roads.

Citizens can expect minor traffic impacts during that time, but once the major roadways are completed, sweeping will begin during the day in downtown and residential areas.

“Street sweeping helps keep neighbourhoods clean, improves air quality and protects local waterways,” as written in a press release. “Residents are asked to give crews plenty of space and slow down when approaching street sweeping equipment. Your cooperation helps keep crews safe and Red Deer looking its best.”

The operations depend on weather conditions, so a further update will be shared at that time.
