Wolf Creek Public Schools has appointed Melissa Rogers as the new director of people services.

Rogers, who currently serves as the principal of J.S. McCormick School in Lacombe, has over two decades of education experience. She is expected to commence her new role this summer.

Her career began in 2001, when she served as a physical education specialist in Lethbridge, before continuing her work in Abbotsford, B.C.

She then returned to central Alberta 14 years ago to join École James S. McCormick School and has since served in several leadership roles.

“Melissa is a thoughtful leader who is deeply committed to supporting others,” said Superintendent Tim De Ruyck. “Her experience as a school leader, combined with her passion for staff wellness and professional growth, will be a strong asset to our People Services team. Melissa understands that when we invest in our staff, we create the conditions for students to succeed.”

Rogers earned her combined degree of a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education from the University of Lethbridge with a major in Kinesiology.

She is currently completing her master’s degree of education in Indigenous education at the University of British Columbia.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve Wolf Creek Public Schools in this new role,” said Rogers. “Supporting staff so they can grow, thrive, and feel valued is essential. I look forward to working with colleagues across the division to continue building strong, supportive workplaces for everyone in WCPS.”
