Viewpoint Gallery and Corridor Community Gallery accepting exhibit proposals

Mar 8, 2026 | 10:00 AM

Local and central Alberta artists have an opportunity to share their work with the community as Viewpoint Gallery and Corridor Community Gallery open their annual ‘Call for Artists’ for exhibition proposals.

City officials say both galleries are City of Red Deer-run exhibition spaces that provide presentation opportunities for artists and curators working in visual art media. The submission deadline is Friday, May 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. MST.

Viewpoint Gallery, located in the former Intermediate School at 5205 48 Avenue in downtown Red Deer, offers 875 square feet of exhibition space and 80 linear feet for hanging, note city officials.

The city says exhibitions typically run two to three months, further noting this is an adjudicated gallery, with proposals reviewed by community art leaders and representatives from The City of Red Deer.

Officials say exhibiting artists receive an honorarium based on CARFAC’s Fee Schedule for Exhibitions in Other Public Spaces. They say successful proposals will be programmed into one remaining exhibition spot in 2026 and throughout 2027.

Meantime, Corridor Community Gallery, located in the lower level of the Don Moore Recreation Centre, provides nine 24 x 30 inch frames and a display cabinet for ceramic and three-dimensional works. Officials say exhibitions typically run two to three months. This is described as an unpaid exhibition opportunity. The city says successful proposals will be programmed into two remaining spots in 2026 and into 2027.

“This call for proposals is an opportunity for artists at different stages of their careers to share their work in welcoming, community-focused spaces,” said Marli Hadden, Community & Program Facilitator, in a press release. “We encourage artists working in all visual media to apply.”

The city says the call is open to artists and curators working in any visual art media, including sculpture, painting, printmaking, lettering arts, ceramics, fibre arts, glass, fine craft, jewellery, digital art, mixed media, photography, film, video and performance art. Applicants must be Canadian residents, with preference given to residents of Red Deer and central Alberta.

Organizers say submissions will be assessed on consistency and quality of work, demonstrated commitment to serious practice, strength of proposed themes and ensuring a diversity of artists are represented.

Applicants must complete a fillable PDF application form and submit five to 10 JPEG images of proposed work, along with a corresponding image list. Full submission requirements and application forms are available online:
