Proactive traffic stop results in largest drug seizure in Lacombe Police Service history

Jan 8, 2026 | 2:51 PM

One person has been charged following a proactive traffic stop that resulted in the largest drug seizure in the history of the Lacombe Police Service.

It happened on Dec. 2, 2025, with members of the Lacombe Police Service allegedly seized weapons, cash, and evidence related to drug trafficking and manufacturing during a local traffic stop.

At approximately 4:14 a.m., police observed a vehicle being operated in a manner consistent with impaired driving in the area of Highway 2A. LPS says members initiated a traffic stop and, during their interaction with the driver, observed signs of drug impairment and the presence of drug paraphernalia in plain view.

As a result of the investigation, police seized a significant quantity of cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine, along with items consistent with the trafficking and manufacturing of illegal drugs, including two imitation handguns. A large safe located inside a Rubbermaid container was also seized and secured pending the execution of a search warrant.

The total quantities and estimated street values of drugs seized are as follows:

  • Cocaine: approximately 1.73 kilograms, estimated street value $205,618
  • Fentanyl: approximately 466 grams, estimated street value $46,648
  • Methamphetamine: approximately 312 grams, estimated street value $7,176

LPS says a 32-year-old Calgary woman was arrested and later released on an undertaking with conditions.

She is facing charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking (Controlled Drugs and Substances Act).

LPS says the investigation remains ongoing, including further examination into the manufacturing and distribution of controlled substances, and additional charges may be forthcoming. At this time the name of the individual has been withheld pending the formal swearing of charges.

The Lacombe Police Service says it remains committed to disrupting the illegal drug trade and removing dangerous substances from the community.
