Central Albertans were a big part of the action at this past week’s Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (WNFR) in Las Vegas.
That includes Big Valley’s Zeke Thurston, who battled hard in the saddle bronc, but suffered his first buck-off in 56 NFR rides. That knocked the four-time world champ and six-time Canadian title-holder out of the running.
Thurston did, however, place six times in Vegas, winning more than $78,000, and finishing fifth in the world standings for saddle bronc.
Meanwhile, Eckville’s Ben Andersen placed in three rounds, and finished fifth in the average to leave Vegas with nearly $69,000.
