Rebels suffer 4-1 road setback against Hitmen

Dec 13, 2025 | 10:41 AM

The Calgary Hitmen scored three unanswered goals in the third period on Friday night to beat the visiting Red Deer Rebels 4-1 at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Despite the loss, Rebels netminder Matthew Kondro had a fantastic night in between the pipes with 37 saves on 41 shots.

The Hitmen got on the board with 16 seconds left in the first period. Forward Andrei Molgachev fired a shot into the top corner of the net after an outlet pass from Axel Hurtig sent him on a two-on-one offensive rush.

In the second period, the Rebels found the equalizer off the stick of Noah Milford. After Owen DeWitt gathered the puck behind the net, he fed Milford in front, who fired it past the goalie.

However, the Hitmen took over from there, scoring three straight goals in the third period.

Forward Kale Dach scored just 14 seconds into the final frame off the face off, followed by a goal from Brandon Gorzynski nearly four minutes later off the rebound.

The Hitmen put the final nail in the coffin eight minutes and 40 seconds into the third with a one-timer goal from Keaton Jundt from the right side of the ice.

Good news for the Rebels, they won’t have to wait long for a chance at a rematch. They’ll host the Hitmen at the Centrium tonight at 6 p.m. All Rebels games can be listened to live on 106.7 Rewind Radio.
