Penhold Community Christmas and Winter Village Light-Up

Nov 19, 2025 | 2:54 PM

The Town of Penhold is inviting residents to kick off the holiday season at the annual Community Christmas celebration on Friday, Nov. 21, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Penhold Regional Multiplex.

Town officials say a highlight of this year’s event is the first-ever lighting of the new Winter Village, a spectacular holiday display generously gifted to the community by Monarch Earthwork and sponsored by Central Alberta Roofing and the Town of Penhold.

At 6:15 p.m., the Winter Village will officially come to life, showcasing more than 7.5 kilometres of lights throughout the RV Park, including a magical tunnel of lights and festive inflatables.

“This event brings together the best of the season—community connection, local support, and festive fun for all ages,” say Penhold Mayor Mike Yargeau, in a press release. “We are very grateful to Drew from Monarch Earthworks for the Winter Village everyone can enjoy all season long.”

Following the Winter Village light-up, town officials say the Town Crier will lead the community indoors at 6:30 p.m. to light the Multiplex’s large Christmas tree, marking another cherished moment of the evening.

The Community Christmas celebration will feature activities and entertainment for all ages, including:

• Holiday crafts

• Cookie decorating

• Face painting

• Photos with Mean Green

• Wagon rides through the Winter Village

• Little Shoppers Area (for children under 12)

• Santa Photos and quiet activities in the Penhold & District Library

• Penhold Museum Cookie Walk

• Penhold Museum Vendor Market (open 6:00–8:30 p.m.)

• Silent Auction supporting the Penhold Senior’s Drop-In

Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy this festive evening of lights, laughter, and holiday spirit.

The Monarch Winter Village will be open each evening from Nov. 21 through mid-January.
