High school football provincial playoff action continues this week throughout the province, including in central Alberta.

The road to the Alberta Bowl continues with the Hunting Hills Lightning taking on Austin O’Brien in the 4A provincial semi-finals.

They’ll go head-to-head at noon on Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Jasper Place Bowl in Edmonton. This comes after the Lightning defeated Cold Lake 33-9 in the quarterfinals.

If they win, they’ll advance to the 4A provincial finals on Saturday, Nov. 29 where they’ll play the winner of the other semifinal matchup between Cochrane and Holy Trinity Academy.

Meantime, in the 9-a-side provincials, No. 4-seeded Ponoka will face No. 1-seeded Bonnyville in the semifinals at 1 p.m. on Nov. 22 at Walsh Field.

If Ponoka wins, they’ll advance to the finals on Friday, Nov. 28, in Edmonton against either Millwoods or Wainwright.

In 6-a-side, No. 2-seeded Rimbey will take on J.C. Charyk in the semifinals on Nov. 22 at noon at the MEGlobal Athletic Park in Lacombe.

Rimbey earned a bye into the semifinals, and if they win, they’ll play Breton or St. Carlo Acutis on Friday, Nov. 28 at 2:30 p.m. at the Jasper Place Bowl.

Finally, the Hunting Hills Lightning bantam football team will host the Medicine Hat Colts on Saturday, Nov. 22, in the Tier II Bantam 12-a-side final. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at Setters Place.
