Nov 12, 2025 | 12:38 PM

Two members of the AJHL’s Olds Grizzlys were named weekly award winners for Nov. 3-9.

Sam Giangualano was named forward of the week, while Ryder Riedel earned the honours for rookie of the week.

Giangualano, 19, recorded a hat trick in back-to-back games and was selected as the Bunge AJHL Player of the Game in both contests, according to a league release.

He now has 19 points (10G, 9A) in 18 regular season games.

Riedel, meantime, has only played four games this season, but has points in every one.

The Didsbury native had a goal in a 6-3 loss versus the Fort McMurray Oil Barons on Nov. 5 and was recognized as the Bunge AJHL Player of the Game.

The 18 year-old then picked up two assists in a 5-3 win over the Calgary Canucks to start the weekend, plus got an assist in a 6-5 overtime loss to the Grande Prairie Storm on Nov. 8.

The pair are the first Grizzlys to earn weekly honours this season.

Noah Nelson with the Calgary Canucks was named defensive player of the week.

Olds still sits last in the South Division at 4-12-1-1, two points behind Drayton Valley.

They wrap up a six-game homestand on Nov. 15 against Drumheller — 7 p.m. puck drop at the Olds Sportsplex.
