Trial dates have now been set for a fourth time for a Rimbey, Alta, man charged in a homicide in Brazeau County three years ago.

Shane Allen Marshall, 40, is now scheduled for a jury trial in Wetaskiwin Court of King’s Bench from Jan. 4-22, 2027.

He was previously scheduled for a jury trial in Wetaskiwin from Sept. 15-25, 2025, and Feb. 3-14, 2025, prior to that.

Marshall faces one count of second-degree murder.

A second charge of threats cause death/bodily harm was dismissed in Red Deer Court of Justice on Jan. 17, 2023, after initially being scheduled for trial on that charge on that day.

It was on Oct. 17, 2022, when Breton RCMP received a report requesting a welfare check on a male at a rural property in Brazeau County. Upon arrival, officers spoke to and arrested a male on outstanding warrants.

After conducting a search of the property, RCMP located a deceased male. The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit was called in to investigate.

The deceased was identified as 67-year-old Robert Charles Marshall, a resident of Brazeau County.

On Oct. 19, 2022, Mounties say an autopsy was conducted by the medical examiner who determined the manner of death to be homicide.
