Trial dates set for one of six charged in alleged organized auto theft and re-vinning operation
Trial dates have been scheduled for one of six people charged following a year-long investigation into an alleged organized auto theft and re-vinning operation.
Joseph Chlala, 24, of Calgary, is scheduled for trial in Evansburg Court of Justice from Feb. 2-6, 2026. The dates were set following a preliminary hearing held in Edmonton Court of Justice last week to determine if there was enough evidence to go to trial.
Meantime, co-accused, Michael Edward Labar, 48, of Red Deer, is scheduled for a preliminary hearing to see if his case has enough evidence to go to trial in Evansburg Court of Justice from Sept. 23-24, 2025.
A second co-accused, Cherie Baptiste, 41, of Red Deer, is scheduled for trial in Evansburg Court of Justice, those same dates.
