Red Deer’s average rent prices ranked among the lowest in Canada in July

Red Deer remains one of the most affordable Canadian markets when it comes to average rent by city.

According to the July rent report from rentals.ca and Urbanation, Red Deer is ranked 55th out of 60 listed cities in Canada for average rent price with one and two bedroom rentals.

The average rent for a one bedroom unit in Red Deer is $1,308 per month which is a one per cent increase from June and a 0.6 per cent increase year-over-year.

Meantime, the average rent for a two bedroom unit is $1,531 per month, a 1.2 per cent decrease from last month and a 0.6 per cent increase year-over-year.

Only Regina, Fort McMurray, Medicine Hat, Lloydminster, and St. John’s had lower average rents among the top Canadian markets.

The most expensive market is North Vancouver, where on average, a one bedroom unit costs $2,627 per month to rent and a two bedroom costs $3,518 per month.

Nationally, the average rent for Canada is $2,121 per month, which is a 3.7 per cent decrease from last year.

Only Manitoba ($1,658) and Saskatchewan ($1,453) had cheaper overall rent than Alberta ($1,845). The most expensive province is B.C. with $2,496 per month.
