Lacombe Police Service investigating damage to construction equipment

Jul 16, 2025 | 1:32 PM

The Lacombe Police Service is investigating after heavy construction equipment was damaged near the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex.

Police say on July 14 they received a report that the windows of two excavators and a front end loader were damaged while parked in a construction zone on 53 Street.

Police say the equipment was intact on July 12 and the damage was found on the morning of July 14.

Police say initial observations suggest the damage was done by a “small projectile.” After attending the scene, police confirmed that the driver’s side windows on all three machines were damaged, with one completely shattered.

Police are waiting on requested CCTV footage from the Gary Moe Arena to review it.

In the meantime, the Lacombe Police Service is asking residents in the area to report any suspicious activity. Increased patrols will also be conducted in the area to prevent further incidents.

If you have any information related to this incident or other criminal activity in the area, please contact the Lacombe Police Service at 403-782-3279 or your local police agency. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submit a tip online at www.tipsubmit.com.
