ENDED: Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Red Deer

The City of Red Deer and parts of central Alberta are under a severe thunderstorm watch, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).

Officials say conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that could produce damaging wind gusts and large hail.

They are beginning to develop in west-central Alberta and will move east throughout the day.

Some of these thunderstorms could become severe by this afternoon and are expected to move very fast, possibly more than 60 km/h.
