Central Alberta company fined after workplace fatality

A central Alberta company has been fined in connection to a workplace fatality which occurred Nov. 8, 2022.

On June 30 at the Red Deer Justice Centre, Delta Land Co., as an employer, pleaded guilty to one count under the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Code for permitting a worker to remain within range of a moving part of powered mobile equipment, a release from the Alberta government explains.

The company is being fined $350,000, including 20 per cent for a victim fine surcharge. Six other counts were withdrawn by the Crown.

Charges stemmed from an incident in November 2022 at a resort development site at Gull Lake.
